The popularity of erotic literature with women & what it teaches us about what turns women on

A genre of literature that is very popular with women these days is erotic literature, i.e. erotic fiction and erotic memoirs. Many women also like to read romance novels, but in recent years erotic literature has become a lot more popular than romance novels.

Erotic fiction is fictitious stories involving sexual scenarios and themes.

Erotic memoirs are true life stories involving sexual scenarios and themes.

I'm not simply talking about mainstream erotica such as 'Fifty Shades Of Grey'. There is a vastly bigger choice of books in this genre than 'Fifty Shades...', in fact that book is pretty tame compared to some of the stuff out there. But that book has done a lot to popularise the genre and for many women it's acted as a gateway to reading more erotic literature.

So what does the popularity of these types of books tell us about women, what they fantasise about, and what gets them turned on?

Men and women get turned on/sexually aroused very differently

There is a contrast between men and women here. A lot of men are into watching porn (I know you watch it, you pervs....haha) and looking at pictures of naked women (in lad's mags, etc), since men are visual creatures and get turned on by the visual look of a woman, whereas women tend to be less into watching porn and looking at pictures of naked men and more into reading erotic stories.

Unlike men, women are not so much turned on by visual stimulus. They are more turned on by the words they hear and what they can fantasise about and imagine in their minds. If you can get a woman's mind turned on, her body will follow. Skilled erotic literature authors write their books in such a way that gets women to visualise and imagine the sexual scenarios in the books, which gets their female readers turned on. A lot of women readily admit to playing with themselves while they read erotic books.

Women love masculine, sexually Direct guys

A common theme that is universal across all erotic literature (and to an extent, romance novels) is that the guy that ends up seducing the woman is always a very dominant, masculine, sexually Direct guy. He is NEVER a weak, feminine, platonic/'nice guy' type.

A lot of women are in denial about the sort of men that they are turned on by. Many women are socially conditioned to believe they 'should' date a 'nice guy' type....but the true reality is that 'nice guys' don't get their juices flowing as much as the masculine, sexually Direct types. If women were totally honest with themselves, they'd agree with me on this. The kind of man they fantasise about is a sexually Direct guy, not some sexless, weak chump.

Erotic/sexual/dirty talk turns women on

Another thing that is used in erotic literature is erotic/sexual language. This is used in the descriptions of the sexual scenes that are taking place, but also in the dialogues between the characters/people in the books. And this sort of language gets women sexually aroused when done correctly. Most women won't admit that this sort of language turns them on, but again, if they were honest then they'd say it does.

Men can read and learn a lot from erotic literature too

I started reading erotic literature a while ago and I really liked it (I must add that I don't particularly enjoy reading romance novels, though). It doesn't make you feminine to read this stuff, in fact it is the smart thing to do because you will learn a lot about the sort of erotic language and type of men that turn women on. You might even get some ideas for yourself about what to say and how to behave around women. If you read a lot of these types of books, you'll subconsciously pick up on the knowledge you're reading and being really Direct and sexual will become second nature to you.

Summary

In summary, the 3 main things that turn women on are:

- Masculine, dominant, sexually Direct guys
- Erotic/sexual/dirty talk
- Descriptions of sex which stimulate a woman's imagination and fantasy

This obviously isn't common knowledge among most men. Nope. Most men are not Direct with women. Many men are weak and feminine in today's society. Most men are not very good at erotic/dirty talk, or many don't even use it all. So if you can be a masculine, Direct guy who has mastered the art of erotic/sexual talk, you already have a big advantage over most other guys.

I would definitely recommend you start reading some erotic literature; not only will you learn a lot from it but it's enjoyable to read too.
